A huge movie star has decided to pick up off the screen where his iconic character on the screen left off. Christian Bale, known for his turn as Batman in the Christopher Nolan Dark Knight trilogy, has taken a page out of the Wayne Family book.

The Oscar winner kicked off the construction of his passion project, a one-of-a-kind village in California created to keep siblings in foster care together under the same roof.

ABC 7 out of Los Angeles reported on the incredible gift from one of the most famous actors in the world.

Together California, a new foster care community in Palmdale, celebrated a key milestone in foster care with a groundbreaking ceremony.

The 7,000-square-foot community center will serve 12 Together California foster homes. The project, which will transform foster care in California by allowing brothers and sisters to remain together, is targeted to be finished in April 2025.

Together California was co-founded by the actor, his wife Sibi Bale and Eric Esrailian.

Its goal is to provide critical support for vulnerable children in Los Angeles County. It is an alternative model of foster care that prioritizes keeping brothers and sisters together. It will offer enriching services to both the children living there and the local community, functioning as a center for academic, therapeutic, social, and recreational activities for young people.

Bale told The Guardian that the village is “something absolutely new, totally transformative and something completely needed.”

“Imagine the absolute pain and the trauma of losing your parents or being torn from your parents, and then losing your brothers and sisters on top of that. That’s no way to treat kids. And so, we will be the hub for that. I hope that this village will be the first of many, and I hope that people, Californians and Angelenos, know to come join us in opening our eyes to what’s happening right under our noses. These are our children, and we must help our children.”

Like Batman, Bale credited is late father for cultivating his interest in philanthropy and helping. “I grew up with a dad who was always very active and altruistic,” he told the Hollywood Reporter, “and we would be headed to protests and shouting at Maggie Thatcher and stuff. As a kid, I didn’t really know what I was doing, but I loved it, and I just admired the hell out of my dad in that way that he went out of his way to care for other people.”

Now siblings will stay together and he’s a real-life superhero, indeed.
